Cristina is a friend of mine from Siles last year. She worked as a teacher in the high school. Her parents live here in Jaén, so it was a wonderfully pleasant surprise when she called me up and said she was in town. I was with Ana and her friend Marisa in La Galeria but headed off to Deán to sit in the terraza, and hang out with Cristina and some of her friends. I love that it's October and I can sit outside in a light sweater still. We had tinto verano, cerveza and tapas and caught up. One of her friends recently had a baby (who was with her at our little gathering) so we spent a good amount of time chatting about babies, parenting, etc. Later we headed to a bar called Bodegon which is half mom and pop grocery store and half bar. Crazy combination, right? After Bodegon we headed off to the feria. Cristina moves more at my pace. We stayed there drinking and dancing until like 4am instead of 6 or 7am, and then trekked up the hill to go home. Just like my day in Granada, it was so nice to be around a familiar face!

They put lights up over the streets for feria, just like they do for Christmas.
SO. MANY. PEOPLE.
These are the wine booths that are typical of the fair. You arrive at the fair and throw back a couple of these to get the party started.
It's a sweet wine with a wafer in it.

Banner in one of the casetas... "I'm not afraid of the bulls...of life, yes!"
